Matthew 5:41-42

Reading: Matthew 5:41-42
K-hymn: 492

Jesus said something like this: Matthew 5:41-42
"If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
Give to the one who asks you.
Do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
Give, because then it will be given to you.
If you give what you have, you will experience God who gives more.
In this way, you can live a life of giving.”

In terms of material things, Jesus wants you to give like this.
Then, you provide very generous spirit among people.
You make people relax.

Jesus invites you to give for God.
Jesus invites us to be available for God.
So, we give our time and talent for God.

When we are asked, we do a good work for God.
You do more than what they ask.
You give more than what you promised.
You prepare to give better for God.

God is a giver.
God gives things out of love.
God gives the world and universe.
God gives the Son of God.
God gives God’s own spirit: the Holy Spirit.
We know God is still giving.
So, we give because God gives.

Sometimes, when we give, God can bless us even more.
So, sometimes, God asks us to give so that God can fill in.
Then God will work accordingly.
We will receive what Jesus promised.

In terms of having the knowledge of who God is, it is true.
If you want to learn more of God, you may need to share what you know of God.
You need to give your knowledge to people.
The more you give, the more you receive.
The more you teach, the more you learn.
Then you will learn more of God.

So if you want to know God, teach and evangelize.
Give what you want to have.
So, give what you want to receive.

Let’s pray:
Jesus, you ask your followers to live the life of giving loving God.
May we obey you and follow you, serving people that you love.
Then may we live with you forever.
In Jesus name, amen.

Note: either you use God to gain money or you use money to gain God.
Giving disarms the power of money.
