Pastoral Prayer 20

Thank you, Jesus the Christ for inviting us to your table today.
Thank you for inviting us to be one with you.
May you clean our mind and body as we partake in this communion.

May we become one with you by participating in this communion.
May our life be the extension of your life on earth.
May we carry your presence in the world.
May the world be renewed by the way we live and speak.

Jesus the Christ, thank you for loving us and giving your life for us.
May we also offer our life to you as you have offered your life for us.

Jesus, now we entrust to you our family and friends who ask for our prayers, who pray for us, and whom we name before you now in silence. (speak out the names)

Whether the names are spoken or remained in our heart, Jesus, be with them.
Let your presence known in their mind and their body.
Heal them and make them well.
Energy them so that they may be able to serve you and worship you.

Jesus the Christ, you have promised us that you would never leave us or forsake us.
May you renew us and remake us.
Touch and heal our minds and bodies and fill them with your love.

Now as we pray together the prayer you taught us, may our mind and heart be your mind and heart.
May you pray through us, in us and for us:

“Our Father in heaven, holy is your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
