Shine God’s light.
Reading: Matthew 28:1-10
Prop: candles and a small table
What are these?
Right, these are candles.
Now let me tell you a story.
One day Jesus was in heaven.
(Light a candle on the table)
Jesus was there because Jesus is God.
But then, Jesus wanted to become a man just like us so that he could shine God’s light to us.
So, he became a man.
(Bring a candle under the table)
Then Jesus taught people about the truth.
Jesus told them what God told him.
Jesus loved them and prayed for them.
Then, many people understood God and the truth.
But some people didn’t want to hear Jesus.
They didn’t like his teaching.
So, they killed Jesus.
(Turn off the light)
But God loved his light, because God knew Jesus spoke the truth.
Jesus obeyed God and did everything that God told him.
So, God decided to bring him back up so that he can continually shine his light and help people to know the truth about God.
(Light the candle)
Then Jesus decided to give his light to his students so that they could shine God’s light, forever.
(Light other candles under the table)
Jesus gave them power.
And then Jesus went home.
(Bring Jesus Candle on the table)
Then his students could do what Jesus has done, because they got the light, the light of Jesus.
They could do all things in Jesus' name.
They could help people to understand God.
They could help them to know that God loves them and that they are God’s children.
Then Jesus also gave this light to us.
(Light two more candles)
Then Jesus was like:
“Shine God’s light.
Help people to understand God and God’s truth.
Encourage people to follow my light.
Then God will be very happy.”
God has given us power to shine God’s light.
So, we can shine God’s light that we receive from Jesus.
We can shine God’s light, by practicing what Jesus said.
Ok, let’s shine God’s light, by practicing what Jesus taught us.
Jesus, thank you for giving your light.
Let us shine God’s light so that more people could understand God and the truth.
May all the people shine the light that you have given them.
In your name, we pray. Amen.
